The confusion begins when one listens to the Monterey album and notices a distinct fidelity change between 'Concerto for Trumpet' and the rest of the tunes. It seems reasonable that the piece was recorded elsewhere, but if it wasn't recorded at Costa Mesa, then where was it recorded?
To make matters worse, the date for the Pacific Jazz Festival in 1966 has been listed in various sources (all credible) as October 8th, 10th, and 18th. I am in the process of determining the correct date.
